Sephora Unveils “Beauty & Belonging,” a Global Film Celebrating Diversity, Authenticity, and the Universal Meaning of Beauty

Sephora proudly announces the premiere of its first global film, Beauty & Belonging, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Anastasia Mikova. Debuting at BrandStorytelling at Sundance, this immersive documentary explores the diverse definitions of beauty across cultures and celebrates individuality and inclusivity.

Beauty & Belonging features conversations with over 75 Sephora employees and iconic beauty brand founders. Filmed over six months in eight countries—Brazil, Canada, China, France, Poland, Thailand, the UK, and the USA—the film delves into personal stories that highlight the importance of representation, cultural diversity, and embracing authentic beauty.

The documentary also includes testimonials from notable beauty brand founders such as Christine Chang and Sarah Lee of Glow Recipe, Danessa Myricks of Danessa Myricks Beauty, Mario Dedivanovic of Makeup by Mario, Mathilde Thomas of Caudalie, and Akash and Nikita Mehta of Fable & Mane. Each founder shares their journey and insights on redefining beauty standards, adding depth to the film’s narrative.

The film reaffirms Sephora’s commitment to fostering a global community where everyone feels welcomed and empowered to embrace their unique beauty.
