Miami Fashion Week 2024 Highlights & 2025 Preview
Miami Fashion Week® (MIAFW) concluded its dazzling November 2024 edition, once again solidifying Miami’s position as a vibrant global hub for fashion and culture. The week-long event brought together some of the most renowned designers from around the world, including Philipp Plein, Lafayette 148 NY, Giannina Azar, Yas González, Shantall Lacayo, Claro Couture, Sigal, and Yenny Bastida. With a perfect blend of runway shows, exclusive events, and insightful conversations, MIAFW showcased the city’s unique role in shaping the future of fashion while laying the groundwork for an even more dynamic 2025.
Curated by Sergio Salerni, a key partner of MIAFW and Milan Fashion Week Director, the 2024 edition lived up to its reputation as a beacon for cutting-edge design. The festivities kicked off with a high-profile press conference at the Gary Nader Art Centre, where Miami Mayor Daniella Levine Cava and Chairman Oliver G. Gilbert III, joined industry leaders like Elliot Carlyle to mark the event’s opening. The first major highlight of the week was the Designers’ Dinner hosted by German fashion icon Philipp Plein at Queen Miami Beach. Known for his bold, urban style, Plein attracted a crowd of celebrities and fashion influencers, including Osmariel Villalobos, Hofit Golan, and Rodner Figueroa.
The excitement continued with Lafayette 148 NY’s elegant runway presentation on the rooftop of Mr. C Miami Coconut Grove, offering a breathtaking view of the city’s skyline. Giannina Azar showcased her glamorous eveningwear collection at the Gary Nader Art Centre, with models like Marianela Ancheta (Miss Universe Cuba 2024), Celinee Santos Frias (Miss Universe Dominican Republic 2024), and Ileana Márquez Pedroza (Miss Universe Venezuela 2023) walking the runway, adding star power to the collection.
MIAFW also hosted numerous impactful gatherings, such as the Influencers Brunch at Sofia Design District, where Shantall Lacayo presented her latest collection, highlighting her signature blend of luxury and innovation. In addition, acclaimed designer Ágatha Ruiz de la Prada shared a personal look into her celebrated career during a special book presentation at the Gary Nader Art Centre. Exclusive in-store events by Sigal and Lafayette 148 further enriched the experience for fashion enthusiasts, offering a deeper connection to the designers and their work.
The Miami Fashion Week Summit, supported by the Miami Fashion Institute, was another major aspect of the event. This summit brought together industry professionals and influencers to discuss key topics such as sustainability, the future of fashion, and the growing influence of digital influencers. Speakers like Rodner Figueroa, Andrea Minski, and Taryn Hipwell led thought-provoking conversations that explored the intersection of fashion and social media, along with strategies for creating a more sustainable fashion industry.
“Miami Fashion Week returned this week, offering much more than glitz and glamour,” said Fabián Basabe, State Representative. “It’s jobs, tourism, educational seminars, manufacturing opportunities, and branding for our great city; and an inspiration for so many from near and far. I’m honored to call the organizers my friends and will continue to support this amazing and successful partnership.”
The 2025 edition of MIAFW is already generating buzz, promising even more spectacular experiences, groundbreaking fashion, and valuable industry collaborations. With continued support from Miami-Dade County, the City of Miami Beach, and major sponsors like The Elser Hotel, Miami Fashion Week is set to remain a cultural cornerstone for years to come.
