Ice Cube was at State Farm Arena in Atlanta last night, and the crowd erupted with excitement to see him. Many of us grew up listening to him when he started rapping back in 1985. It was amazing to see an artist who’s been in the industry for 40 years and is still so relevant today.
There were four decades of fans in the building—both the day ones and the new generation. The longtime fans remembered and lived through the struggles that N.W.A., including Ice Cube, faced: whether it was their music being rejected by radio stations, being investigated by the FBI, or witnessing the Rodney King beating and the unrest that followed. We remembered the tension with corrupt and racist police officers, the chaos in Compton, and ultimately, the heartbreaking loss of Eazy-E. For many, this concert wasn’t just a show—it was a reflection of history, resilience, and legacy.
Ice Cube performed hit after hit, knowing the words to every song. Another great and surprising moment came when Eazy-E’s son, Lil Eazy-E, came out to rap his father’s part of one of his classic hits—a powerful tribute that had the entire arena cheering.
Chris Tucker, Jeezy, T.I., Killer Mike, and many more celebrity guests attended the concert as well. This was truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see Ice Cube perform live again. He took a moment to praise Atlanta for always showing love and support for him through the years, in both his music and film career. He also reminded fans that he’s filmed several of his movies right here in the city.
