2024 BMAC Gala Week Parties & Events
The 2024 BMAC Gala will bring together some of the biggest names in the music industry to honor artists, executives, and activists for their efforts in promoting social justice. Hosted by Kenny Burns, the gala will be held on Thursday, Sept. 19, at The Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. The event is part of the Black Music Action Coalition’s (BMAC) mission to advance racial equity and economic justice.
This year’s honorees include LL COOL J, who will receive the Clarence Avant Trailblazer Award, and Usher, who will be presented with the Quincy Jones Humanitarian Award. BET Media Group executives, including Scott Mills, Louis Carr, Constance Orlando, and Kimberly Paige, will be recognized with the BMAC Social Impact Award. The BMAC Change Agent Award will go to Ivy McGregor, executive director of BeyGOOD, while Live Nation executives will receive the BMAC 365 Award for their ongoing social impact initiatives.
Gunna is also set to deliver remarks about the new “BMAC 30349 Guaranteed Income Program,” which will provide $1,000 monthly stipends to 30 families in South Fulton, Georgia. The evening will feature an inaugural auction in partnership with Julien’s Auctions and a menu curated by Chef Deborah VanTrece of VanTrece Hospitality Group, a James Beard Award nominee.
Additional expected attendees include Flavor Flav, Willie “Prophet” Stiggers (BMAC CEO & President), and several BMAC board members, including Caron Veazey, Damien Smith, and Shawn Holiday, among others.
BMAC Gala Week:
- Sunday, September 15: Revels Group Black.Future.Now. Brunch BMAC will host a brunch in partnership with The Revels Group.
- Tuesday, September 17: SESAC Awards BMAC’s co-founder/CEO Willie “Prophet” Stiggers will receive SESAC’s Visionary Award at The Highlight Room.
- Wednesday, September 18: BMI Panel + Private Dinner at LAVO Panel discussion featuring Willie “Prophet” Stiggers, BMI’s Mike O’Neill, Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr., and more, focusing on AI in the music industry. Followed by a private, invite-only dinner.
- Thursday, September 19: 2024 BMAC Gala Honors include LL COOL J, Usher, BET Media Group, Ivy McGregor, and Live Nation executives. The gala will also include remarks by Gunna and an auction in partnership with Julien’s Auctions.
- Friday, September 20: Post-Gala Breakfast with Neil Lasher Fund A breakfast highlighting the partnership with Neil Lasher, focusing on sobriety and support for addicts and their families.
The 2024 BMAC Gala and its accompanying events aim to honor those making strides toward a more equitable future while supporting BMAC’s ongoing advocacy for justice in the music industry.
